Poden existir diversos dissenys d'una nòria.

Primer cal decidir com anem a fer la nòria, triar un disseny, però per fer-ho cal tenir en compte les diferents parts que la formen.
La roda gran pot fer-se amb contraplacat de 3 mm, l'eix amb varilla roscada M4 i els suports amb contraplacat de 7 mm i listons de pi d'1cm de secció per unir les dues rodes grans.

Mecanismes de transmissió i transformació de moviment

Les màquines són un conjunt d'elements units entre sí, concebuts per ajudar-nos a realitzar amb més eficàcia totes les tasques diàries dins dels diferents àmbits en què ens movem: domèstic, industrial, etc.

L'objectiu de la pràctica proposada és l'estudi dels diferents mecanismes de transmissió i transformació de moviment mitjançant les TIC.

Els continguts que treballarem a aquesta pràctica seran:

Reconeixement de mecanismes emprats per a la transmissió i transformació de moviment
Anàlisi de la seva funció en diferents màquines
Utilització de simuladors per reproduir i entendre el funcionament de mecanismes i associacions d'ells

Desenvolupament de la pràctica

A la xarxa podem trobar recursos TIC que ens poden ajudar a treballar la unitat didàctica a l'aula i a generar activitats. Aquí en tenim uns quants exemples. Visita'ls per fer-te'n una idea.

Pla de seguretat i atenció a les víctimes de violència masclista i domèstica

Còmic per prevenir la violència masclista entre la joventut

El Departament d'Interior ha editat un còmic per prevenir la violència masclista entre la joventut i una guia didàctica adreçada al professorat. El còmic és una eina que complementa les xerrades que fan els Mossos d'Esquadra als instituts sobre violència masclista en l'àmbit de la seguretat. D'altra banda, també està disponible per als centres una guia didàctica que ofereix al professorat pautes per tractar el tema de la violència masclista en tutories o d'altres activitats.

L'objectiu del còmic és fer arribar un missatge preventiu als centres educatius per mitjà dels Mossos d'Esquadra perquè el jovent aprengui a detectar situacions d'abús, control i manipulació de les dones, clars indicadors de les primeres mostres de violència. El còmic tracta els cinc tipus de violència masclista: violència en l'àmbit de la parella, mutilació genital femenina, matrimonis forçats, violència en l'àmbit de la família i agressions sexuals.

Aquests materials treballen la seguretat des del vessant més preventiu, destacant consells de seguretat adreçats al jovent.

Les il·lustracions del còmic són de l'Eva Garcés i el guió ha estat escrit per l'equip del Departament d'Interior mitjançant un grup de treball, en què també participen agents de la Policia de la Generalitat – Mossos d'Esquadra.

Al final de cada història hi ha un apartat anomenat “Important!” en què s'informa el jovent sobre els seus drets i sobre les mesures de protecció que cal prendre davant d'una possible agressió o abús.

Pràctica 1. Obtenir imatges

Podeu obtenir imatges de diverses fonts: fent fotografies amb una càmera digital, fent dibuixos amb l’ordinador, amb les imatges descarregades d’Internet, digitalitzant-les amb un escàner o capturant el que es veu a la pantalla de l’ordinador.

En el cas que vulgueu utilitzar les imatges en documents, activitats, webs… i no en sigueu vosaltres els autors, heu de tenir sempre molt present la llicència a què estan subjectes per saber quin és l’ús que en podeu fer.

Moltes de les imatges que hi ha a Internet tenen llicència Creative Commons. Podeu trobar informació sobre aquest tipus de llicència a la wikipedia, o a la web de Creative Commons Catalunya.

Capturar imatges d'Internet

La majoria de les imatges que es visualitzen en un navegador es poden capturar, és a dir, desar-les al disc dur, tot fent el següent:

Amb el Mozilla Firefox:

Feu clic amb el botó dret sobre la imatge que voleu desar al vostre ordinador.
Trieu l'opció Desa la imatge com a… (Guardar enlace como…) del menú desplegable que s'obrirà:

A la finestra que s'obrirà, seleccioneu el nom i la ubicació on volem desar la imatge i premeu Guardar.

Ja teniu la imatge disponible al vostre disc dur.

Amb l'Internet Explorer:

El procediment és el mateix, però l'opció a triar serà Guardar destino como… (o Guardar imagen como…).

Per trobar les imatges que necessiteu podeu fer servir els cercadors d'imatges (Google, Flickr…, o bancs d'imatges d'on podeu obtenir-ne amb la seguretat que són lliures i que les podeu utilitzar sense problemes. Aquí en teniu algunes adreces:

Si voleu fer la cerca amb l'alumnat, és convenient que abans la feu vosaltres per evitar sorpreses.

Captura de pantalles amb el Gimp

Des del Gimp podeu fer una captura de tota la pantalla o d'una finestra.

Obriu la finestra que voleu capturar.
Obriu el Gimp i aneu al menú Fitxer|Crea|Captura de pantalla…. Aleshores, s'obre una finestra de diàleg on podreu triar entre capturar la pantalla completa o només una finestra. Trieu aquesta darrera opció i premeu adquisició.

S'obrirà aleshores una finestra de diàleg com aquesta:

Trieu Captura la pantalla sencera, minimitzeu la finestra del Gimp per tal que no quedi a la vostra captura (no la finestra WinSnap que s'acaba d'obrir) i premeu Adquisició.
Apareixerà una nova finestra d'imatge de Gimp amb una nova imatge anomenada Sense títol nº (RGB, Capa 1) seguit de la mida en píxels de la finestra capturada, on apareixerà tota la pantalla de l'ordinador capturada.

També és possible, des del Gimp, capturar només una finestra en concret. Per fer-ho, procediu de la següent forma.

Obriu la finestra que voleu capturar.
Obriu el Gimp i aneu al menú Fitxer|Crea|Captura de pantalla…. Aleshores s'obre la finestra de diàleg d'abans, on podrem triar entre capturar la pantalla completa o només una finestra. Trieu aquesta darrera opció i premeu Adquisició.
S'obrirà una finestra anomenada Select window que té una creu a la part central. Amb el ratolí cliqueu la creu i, mantenint el botó esquerre premut, arrossegueu-lo fins la finestra que voleu capturar. Deixeu anar el botó del ratolí i la finestra capturada apareixerà com una nova imatge anomenada sense títol nº (RGB, Capa 1) seguit de la mida en píxels de la finestra capturada.

Captura de pantalles

Hi ha una altra manera de capturar pantalles. Es tracta de fer servir la tecla Impr Pant(PrtSc).

L'avantatge que té respecte a la captura des del Gimp, és la rapidesa i simplicitat de procediment.

És més ràpid, perquè només prement la tecla Impr Pant (PrtSc) ja queda al porta-retalls una còpia de la pantalla completa sense que intervingui el Gimp. Si la captura la feu utilitzant les tecles Alt + Impr Pant(PrtSc), aleshores serà només la finestra activa la que capturareu.

Des de Windows, un cop capturada la pantalla, cal importar la imatge del porta-retalls al Gimp. Per fer-ho, procediu de la següent manera:

Aneu al menú Fitxer|Crea|Del porta-retalls….

S'obrirà una nova finestra d'imatge amb el contingut del porta-retalls del Windows.

Si treballeu amb la Linkat, la tecla ImprPant activa la finestra de captura de pantalla que dóna l'opció de desar la imatge capturada.

Obtenir imatges des d'un escàner

Les imatges també es poden obtenir digitalitzant-les amb un escàner. Escanejar una imatge és convertir una imatge de format paper en imatge de format digital.

Es pot fer amb el GIMP. Cal que tingueu l'escàner connectat al vostre ordinador i, des del GIMP, aneu al menú Fitxer | Adquireix | Importar des de l'escàner.

Un cop escanejada tindreu la imatge al GIMP i la podreu modificar o desar al vostre ordinador.

Obtenir imatges des d'una càmera digital

Les càmeres digitals, cada cop més petites i més pràctiques, ja han passat a formar part de la nostra vida quotidiana, de manera que obtenir imatges de les nostres activitats diàries s'ha tornat molt senzill. Fins i tot els nens petits les utilitzen sense dificultat. Un cop feta la fotografia, es passa sense complicacions a l'ordinador mitjançant un cable USB o un lector de targetes, i ja es pot utilitzar.

Quan introduïu la tarja a l'ordinador, aquest la detecta i pregunta què es vol fer: obrir la carpeta, veure les imatges…

El mode. Gimp

Coloreja aquestes imatges a blanc i negre emprant el mode adient a les capes.
Recorda que cal afegir una o més capes transparents i aplicar el mode més adecuat. Normalment amb el mode sobreposa o color queda bé.

Les opcions de mode que es mostren en el quadre de control de l'eina i en el diàleg de capes fan referència a com es combinaran els colors nous que incorporareu a la imatge quan se superposin amb els que ja hi ha. Per veure els resultats, podeu obrir una imatge i crear-hi a sobre una capa nova, on enganxareu una segona imatge i en què provareu les diferents opcions de mode. En els exemples següents, s'ha enganxat una fotografia a un fons blau amb diferents opcions de mode:

El llapis i el pinzell

El llapis i el pinzell tenen un funcionament força similar i amb diferències poc perceptibles.

El llapis fa un traç net i amb vores fines. El pinzell pinta les vores una mica difuminades.

Com ho fem per editar textos conjuntament amb altres persones?

De vegades necessitem treballar sobre un mateix text amb un grup de persones que no es troben físicament en un mateix lloc. Per evitar anar enviant el document per correu electrònic perquè els destinataris el puguin editar plegats, hi ha eines d’Internet que ens faciliten la feina. En aquest vídeo-tutorial ens centrarem en Google Docs, que permet la creació i edició de continguts (textos, fulls de càlcul, presentacions) en xarxa.

L’hem fet servir? En coneixem d’altres?

A Google Docs podem crear el nostre document i compartir-lo, a partir de l’opció Comparteix, amb els contactes que desitgem, afegint-hi la seva adreça de correu. També podem decidir si volem que aquests contactes tinguin permís per editar-lo o només per visualitzar-lo.

A l’apartat Discussions, podrem escriure comentaris sobre el text que estem editant, útil per al treball en grup.

Així mateix, també podem publicar documents que ja estiguin editats prèviament per modificar-los en xarxa o simplement per visualitzar-los conjuntament.

No solament es poden crear textos amb Google Docs, sinó també fulls de càlcul, presentacions, dibuixos, formularis i col·leccions per editar junts entre diverses persones.

Cliqueu sobre la imatge per accedir al vídeo

Quan ens trobem amb problemes per enviar materials pesants per correu, podem recórrer a diferents repositoris d’arxius en línia. Aquests llocs web permeten emmagatzemar documents de tota mena, als quals es pot accedir sempre que es vulgui des d’un web, i compartir-los. Un dels més utilitzats és Dropbox. El coneixem? El fem servir o optem per altres serveis? No ens perdem el vídeo-tutorial que adjuntem en aquest apunt.

Dropbox ofereix als seus usuaris 2GB d’espai gratuït per guardar-hi documents de tota mena, amb possibilitat d’ampliar la capacitat si es contracta un compte premium o un servei de compartició d’arxius en xarxa. Així mateix, també es pot augmentar gratuïtament la capacitat en 250 MB (i fins a un màxim de 8 GB) cada cop que un dels nostres contactes accepta la nostra invitació i es descarrega Dropbox i s’hi registra. Altres opcions per ampliar el compte de Dropbox sense despeses són: connectar Dropbox als perfils personals de Twitter i Facebook, seguir el perfil de Dropbox a Twitter o explicar a Dropbox per què t’agrada. Per cada opció d’aquestes el compte s’amplia 128 MB.

Aquesta eina també és molt útil per compartir arxius difícils de trametre per correu. Es pot fer de diverses maneres:

- Mitjançant la carpeta Public, en la qual es poden publicar arxius que podrem compartir amb altres usuaris, que no cal que siguin membres de Dropbox, mitjançant un enllaç d’accés a l’arxiu que volem compartir.

- A partir de l’enviament per correu electrònic. Un cop el document ja és a Dropbox, hi ha la possibilitat d’introduir un correu destinatari on fer arribar l’arxiu en qüestió.

Sovint es parla de la sobreinformació a què ens veiem abocats avui en dia. A Internet, aquest excés d’informació és molt evident i, de vegades, es fa difícil d’administrar. Com gestionem la informació d’Internet que més ens interessa? Hi ha algunes eines que faciliten la lectura de les fonts que els usuaris llegeixen habitualment. En fem servir alguna? En aquest apunt us en presentem una a través d’un vídeo-tutorial: Google Reader.

Google Reader és un lector de continguts (feeds). Per utilitzar-lo, l’usuari accedeix als webs, blocs, etc. que més li interessin i que disposin d’RSS (canal de continguts). Clica sobre la icona d’RSS, en copia la URL que li apareix i l’enganxa a l’apartat Añadir subscripción de Google Reader. A partir d’aquest moment, l’usuari ja no caldrà que entri més al web o bloc en qüestió sinó que rebrà i podrà llegir totes les actualitzacions de contingut des d’aquesta plataforma.

Algunes de les característiques principals de Google Reader són:

- Crear carpetes temàtiques per classificar la informació

- Crear xarxa de contactes per compartir informació (només amb contactes que tinguin també Google Reader)

- Destacar, comentar i compartir informacions que ens hagin agradat amb la nostra xarxa o mitjançant correu electrònic

1. 1953 Chevrolet Corvette

It was introduced in America as the first two – seat sports car. Although it began as a slow performer, it later gained a lot of momentum and soon became an “American icon”. Only three hundred Corvette cars were rolled out in that year, thus making it very rare. Moreover, as opposed to the current red color Vettes you see on the road, the 1953 Corvette was available only in white color.

2. 1967 Pontiac GTO

It had a classic split grill design, which is a common feature among the muscle cars you find. Though it debuted as an alternative for the 1963 Pontiac LeMans, GTO later became a model series of its own in 1966 but ended in 1967, hence making it among the best American classic cars of all times. This model had amazing features like bucket seats, duel exhaust, a big 400 cid motor, the 400 HO performance option and also having option for Ram Air induction.

3. 1964-70 Ford Mustang

Its look and features were so attractive that there was great demand for this classic American car at the dealers, whether to have a look, or to buy one. In spite of the fact that the earliest models did not have adjustable passenger seats, the Ford Mustang is regarded as the second longest running production vehicle in the history of Ford manufacturers.

4. 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T and Super Bee

Both these varieties of cars were very popular among people and hence, both find a place in this list. The R/T (or road/track performance) option was available on many Dodge models from the year 1967. In 1969, the Super Bee was launched as a light weight car, with the base 383 cid and bigger Hemi than the R/T models.

5. 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner

This model was marketed among the young audience as an affordable car. The car did not compromise on performance and suspension features. To make it more appealing, its makers licensed the Warner Brothers cartoon character for its naming and mascot uses and featured the car with the “beep beep” sound instead of the typical horn. Its impressive speed and design finds it a place in the list of top 10 classic American cars.

6. 1959 Cadillac

This classic American car was huge and beautifully built, although it seemed too gaudy to go out with it. Its “tailfin” design put an end to an entire era of the typical automotive designs. The 1959 model boasted of another unique design- a mimic of the front grill design in the rear part as well.

7. 1969 Ford Fairlane/ Torino Cobra

Another Ford car in the list of top American classic cars! The Torino designation was an option package for the mainstream Fairlane models until the year 1969, when the Torino became a separate line of cars by the Ford. There is often a debate regarding its naming convention as it is also sometimes referred to as the Torino GT or Fairlane Cobra.
There were two kinds of body styles in this line of cars- a hardtop (or formal roof) and the more common fastback (or sports roof). It had standard features and speed, Ram Air option which accelerated the performance peak, locking rear differential and other such amazing features. The fastback version was more sold than the hardtop version.

8. 1969 AMC SC/ Rambler

This was another no-frills car, hence priced quite low. It was the result of a small car big engine strategy, which worked well. The most attractive feature of the car was the large Ram Air induction hood scoop and also a prominent paint combination. The most popular cars surviving now is of the “A” trim design.

9. 1963 Impala Z11 427

The Impala line of cars by Chevrolet was among the top favorites of muscle car lovers. The 1963 models of the car had better and improved features like the 429 cid, special heads, valves, two-piece aluminium intake, and dual quads. The hoods, fenders and bumpers were also made of aluminium to reduce the weight of the car. The 1963 Impala was very rare, and only 7 of them can be found today.

10. 1964 Ford Thunderbolt

To keep up with the rising competition from other manufacturers in the market, Ford introduced this car as “purely designed for racing”. It was characterized by plexiglass windows and fiberglass body panels. Its interiors lacked comforts like armrests, mirrors, sound-dampening insulations, radio and heater. Because of all this, it was not appropriate for daily usage and hence, only 100 cars were sold in the year 1964.

L’OCDE considera car i inútil repetir curs

Repetir curs és car -per al país- i amb prou feines no serveix de res -a l’alumne-. Aquesta és la taxativa conclusió d’un estudi realitzat per l’Organització per a la Cooperació i el Desenvolupament Econòmic (OCDE) sobre l’impacte de la repetició de curs en els resultats escolars fet públic ahir. L’OCDE, que agrupa els trenta països més desenvolupats del món, advoca per revisar aquest sistema -així com la transferència dels alumnes amb dificultats a escoles especials- i donar més autonomia als centres.

L’anàlisi dels experts de l’OCDE, realitzada a partir de l’últim informe PISA corresponent al 2009, constata una relació directa entre repetició de curs i fracàs escolar. "Els països que mostren un nivell de repetició elevat són igualment aquells on els alumnes mostren menys competències", subratlla l’estudi, on es calcula que "al voltant del 15% de la diferència de qualitat entre els països de l’OCDE són imputables a les divergències en el nivell de repetició".

Com a mostra d’aquesta correlació, els experts assenyalen que països com Corea, el Japó o Noruega, on cap alumne no repeteix curs, són justament els que millors resultats obtenen en el PISA. En canvi, els països que se situen al capdavant quant al nombre de repetidors -com França, Luxemburg, Espanya, Portugal o Bèlgica- obtenen resultats més aviat mediocres. "La relació entre el medi socioeconòmic dels alumnes i els seus resultats és igualment més marcada als països amb forts nivells de repetició de curs, independentment del nivell de riquesa nacional", afegeix l’estudi. El sistema de repetició de curs agreujaria doncs, segons l’OCDE, les desigualtats socials al si de l’escola.

Als països de l’OCDE, la mitjana d’alumnes de 15 anys que han repetit curs almenys una vegada és del 13%, sent més marcatge en primària (7%) i en el primer nivell de secundària (6%) que en el segon d’ensenyament mitjà (2%). Amb un 35% de repetidors, Espanya és un dels països europeus on aquesta situació és més acusada, només superat per França i Luxemburg.

Si la repetició sistemàtica de curs no sembla contribuir a eradicar el fracàs escolar és, en canvi, una opció amb un elevat cost econòmic. "A Bèlgica, Espanya i Holanda, aquest cost representa almenys el 10% de la despesa anual en primària i secundària, i el cost unitari pot assolir, i fins i tot sobrepassar, els 11.000 dòlars [uns 7.700 euros] per alumne", calcula l’informe, "La repetició de curs dels alumnes engendra costos, particularment el finançament d’un any suplementari de formació de l’alumne, però també el cost per a la societat de retardar almenys un any l’entrada d’aquest alumne al mercat laboral".

Els experts de l’OCDE arriben a semblants conclusions quan es tracta d’analitzar els resultats escolars en aquells països on els alumnes amb dificultats -ja sigui d’aprenentatge, ja siguin disciplinaris- són traslladats i reagrupats en centres especials, el que succeeix especialment en Àustria, Bèlgica, Grècia i Luxemburg.

There are new web 2.0 tools appearing every day. Although some of these tools were not originally meant for use in the classroom, they can be extremely effective learning tools for today’s technology geared students and their venturesome teachers. Many of these teachers are searching for the latest products and technologies to help them find easier and efficient ways to create productive learning in their students. More and more teachers are using blogs, podcasts and wikis, as another approach to teaching. We have created a list of 100 tools we think will encourage interactivity and engagement, motivate and empower your students, and create differentiation in their learning process. Interactivity

Use these tools to actively involve students in the classroom.

1. WordPress.org A free and open source software that makes personal publishing as easy as word processing. Make your life and your students’ life easier by keeping a classroom or subject blog.

2. Flickr A nice tool to get a stream of images on any topic. Make content available to your students only.

3. Yapa Capa! A free blackboard for teachers & students. Teachers can create assignments and tests, which are scored and analyzed and share other teachers tests as well.

4. Quizlet More than just flashcards and very easy to use. Get students started on good study habits.

5. Tizmos It's a place to put thumbnails of sites. Very useful to construct if you want students to go to certain places only. It can also cut down on random searches.

6. Joomla A podcast site by Kyle Mawer & Graham Stanley on using digital games in teaching & language learning.

7. Today’s Meet Encourages the students to use the live stream in the classroom to make comments, ask questions, and use that feedback to make presentations and lets teachers sharpen their points and address student needs.

8. Simple Solver Very easy to use tool for collaborative projects, brainstorming and problem solving. Students will enjoy using this for group discussions.

9. One True Media A blast for doing presentations. Use your photos you can download directly from Flickr and you can even use sound too.

10. Ediscio Another collaborative flashcard tool. This one gives you learning statistics.

11. Xtra Normal For creating text to speech animated movies. A useful tool for social development.

12. Cmap Tools Build interactive, collaborative mind maps with text, video, and weblinks. Used by many high school teachers and college professors advanced for advanced project work and EAP writing.

13. Photo Peach Have students create themed stories and leave comments for each other. Used by teachers for some time now.

14. WordSift Used for vocabulary and English, you and your students can analyze text and get information about the vocabulary in it.

15. Overstream A free tool that allows you to add subtitles to online videos. Gives teachers the URL and the embed code.

16. Phasr You can visually illustrate a sentence with this tool. Students type a sentence and then look for a Flickr image to go with each word.

17. Shidonni A virtual world for young children. They can create imaginary worlds and animals, play games and interact with each other.

18. Sliderocket Create a stunning-looking PowerPoint-style multimedia presentation which can then be viewed and shared online. A great way to introduce topics in the classroom.

19. eyePlorer Use this tool to develop digital literacy. Used by a number of teachers from preschool to high school seniors.

20. The Speech Accent Archive This tool can be used for any linguistics project. You will see sets of speech samples from all around the world.

41. Voki Allows students to create wacky avatars then record themselves speaking. Some teachers have found it to be a fantastic way to assess speaking in the target language.

42. Glogster Students can create multimedia online posters or “glogs which can then be shared on the internet. This tool can be used to assess both writing and speaking.

43. Delicious Social bookmarking site where users can save bookmarks and organize them with tags. Add friends to your account and keep track of bookmarks left by each friend.

44. Tokbox A fun way to get students talking via video-mail. You can also use it for creating class presentations and you can even talk live.

45. Mayomi A free flash-based mind mapping tool that lets you map out ideas, projects, research topics, or anything else that can be dug into. Great for students when it comes to writing essays.

46. Mashface Upload a photo of a famous individual, then uses a webcam to add your voice and lips to that person. This could be perfect for getting into the mind of a famous person being studied in history or other subjects.

56. Ning.com This site allows you to create your own social network; consider using this as a private social network with your students.

57. Podcasting Tools A well-done overview about the process of making a podcast. Learn from the beginning to the end and everything in between.

58. CAST UDL Book Builder This wonderful and free online tool allows you to create your own interactive "books" to help young readers learn reading strategies to build comprehension. Enter your own text, images, and hints.

59. VoiceThread Online presentation site that lets you attach audio and video. Other users can leave audio and video comments.

60. Citebite Useful for reading comprehension, reading a specific portion of text, or even for highlighting a literary device within a text or poem. Students will no longer waste time, announcing, "I can't find it!" or return to school saying they couldn't do the homework!

69. NetVibes Fairly simple web based aggregator that allows you to collect all of your RSS feed on a single web page. Bring together your favorite media sources with online sources.

Aqui tenim una interessant aplicació electrònica sorprenentment útil i original …, es tracta d'un senzill carregador de telègon mòbil, pda, mp3, etc, sempre que es puguin recarregar amb cable d'USB...

El concepte es fàcil, ... l'alimentació USB és de 5V de corrent continu… i, quin altra cosa portàtil podem emprar com carregador de 5V si no tenim un ordinador portàtil a mà? ... doncs una bateria de 9V, això sí, caldrà adaptar la potència de 9 a 5V amb un regulador de tensió...

El regulador de tensió necessari és el model 7805, que es pot aconseguir en tendes de material electrònic a poc més d'un euro..., tanmateix que un conector de batería, un port USB femella i una mica de cable elèctric, sino trobem un troç per reciclar … Seguint l'anterior esquema tenim un sorprenent carregador portàtil USB, sense ordinador. Això si, cal assegurar-se amb un tester que la font d'alimentació dóna 5 volts, ja que si no és així es podria fer malbé el gadjet que connectem ... i si funciona millor emprar una bateria de 9V recarregable.

La consellera Rigau ha defensat que “necessitàvem una visió més global que aglutini totes les accions de noves tecnologies partint d’un model pedagògic”

La consellera d’Ensenyament, Irene Rigau, ha presentat avui en roda de premsa el nou programa eduCAT 2.0 que es desplegarà a tots els centres públics de cicle superior de primària – 5è i 6è – i d’ESO – de 1r a 4rt –, que representen 1.710 escoles i 574 instituts. Una de les novetats d’aquest programa és que els alumnes de l’1x1 quedaran integrats a l’eduCAT 2.0 i podran escollir la manera de continuar-lo amb dues opcions proposades pel departament. El programa preveu dotar d’ordinador i de pissarra digital interactiva (PDI) a primària i que tots els centres públics de secundària disposin PDI.

Així doncs, l’eduCAT 2.0 agrupa totes les actuacions del departament d’Ensenyament per promoure l’ús dels instruments digitals en els processos d’ensenyament i d’aprenentatge. Tal com ha explicat la consellera Rigau, “volem garantir que tots els alumnes en acabar l’ensenyança obligatòria dominin la competència digital i aquest domini els hagi servit per millorar l’aprenentatge i avançar en l’èxit escolar”. També ha defensat que “necessitàvem una visió més global que aglutini totes les accions de noves tecnologies partint d’un model pedagògic”.

Els centres de secundària que ja participen a l’1x1 quedaran integrats a l’eduCAT 2.0 i els alumnes dels cursos que ja havien començat mantindran el programa. Per als alumnes de primer d’ESO que s’hi incorporen el proper mes de setembre, els centres podran optar per dues modalitats en l’aplicació del programa, que hauran de comunicar al departament abans de finals de mes. La primera proposta d’Ensenyament és continuar amb el model de l’1x1, pel qual es subvencionarà als alumnes amb 150€ per la compra d’ordinadors portàtils i als centres amb 35€ per alumne per a continguts i entorns virtuals d’aprenentatge (EVA). El segon model proposat és rebre una assignació equivalent a les l’1x1 per comprar equipament i continguts TIC que quedaran en propietat dels centres.

El departament “aposta per aquesta segona opció perquè combina el llibre amb l’ordinador i permetrà que se’n beneficiïn els alumnes amb caràcter grupal. És més interessant a la llarga pel centre tenir material propi”, tal com ha afirmat Rigau. Ha continuat explicant que aquesta proposta “compatibilitza els llibres de text amb els recursos digitals i deixa als centres que decideixin l’ús més efectiu en el marc dels seu centre”.

El programa també contempla dotar a les aules de cicle superior de primària de les escoles públiques d’ordinadors portàtils, pissarres digitals interactives (PDI) i equipament complementari per guardar o transportar els ordinadors. L’objectiu és que “els alumnes quan s’incorporin a l’ESO estiguin acostumats a treballar amb ordinadors al centre”, com ha remarcat Rigau. Aquesta acció beneficiarà a 86.000 alumnes, que rebran 13.500 ordinadors i 960 PDI el proper curs.

Pissarres per a tots

El departament també garanteix amb aquest nou programa que tots els centres públics de secundària disposin de PDI. Per tant, s’instal·larà una PDI a tots grups de primer i segon d’ESO dels centres que no havien participat a l’1x1, atès que els que ja hi estaven adherits ja en tenen. Segons ha raonat la consellera, “la PDI és el que resulta més costós als centres i així l’anirem generalitzant”.

L’eduCAT 2.0 representa una inversió de 42 milions d’euros i implicarà una franja de sis cursos en la qual tot l’alumnat de “centres públics podrà avançar d’una manera clara i decidida. Un total de 2.284 centres que a partir de l’any vinent quedaran vinculats a l’eduCAT 2.0”, tal com a conclòs de Rigau.

Two separate research groups have just lapped the field, setting a world record by sending more than 100 terabits of information per second through a single optical fibre. This marks "a critical milestone in fibre capacity", says Ting Wang at NEC Laboratories in Princeton, New Jersey.

Such lab results are far beyond today's commercial needs. But "traffic has been growing about 50 per cent a year for the last few years", he adds. Indean Ocean Maldives “The sunny side of life” is a catchphrase used to attract tourists to the Maldive Islands. Well it certainly looks heavenly from the ISS. Time to order a large drink, you know, one with a lot of fruit and a little umbrella, then stretch out on a hammock and just enjoy life, watching what I can only imagine a marvelous sunset. Pacific Ocean Hawaii
Aloha! Scanning westward we approach the Hawaiian Islands. The Big Island is clearly visible. Kilauea is sometimes called “the world’s only drive-in volcano.” This prolific volcano currently produces 250,000-650,000 cubic yards of lava per day, enough to resurface a 20-mile-long, two-lane road daily. Aurora Australis, New Zealand

East coast of Spain at Night
Looking southward on to the east coast of Spain, at night, with the Balearic sea as a dark cloak. The Island of Mallorca is visible on the top left. With Barcelona’s bright lights behind some clouds, I’m reminded about my own bucket list. One day I want to go there to see FC Barcelona face Real Madrid. Soccer might not be huge in the US but it is by far the leading sport in the rest of the world.

Manam Volcano, Papua New Guinea
Manam or “the Green Volcano” as I’d like to call it, is just 10 kilometers (6 miles) across. Manam is a stratovolcano, composed of alternating layers of ash, lava, and rocks from prior eruptions. Manam is one of Papua New Guinea’s most active volcanoes, and it has occasionally caused casualties, including 13 deaths from a pyroclastic flow in December 1996, and four deaths from a mudflow in March 2007. On a happier note, this image looks like a perfect movie set (Jurassic Park or King Kong comes to mind).

HTV on ISS backdrop East coast of Argentina
Sometimes when I look at photos I get a vertigo feel come over me. This is one of those. My stomach turns when I imaging actually being on the ISS, looking down on our beautiful planet. We see the Atlantic Ocean off the Argentinian coast. More precisely, we see San Matias Gulf.

Beaver Lake in Arkansas USA
Beaver Lake, a man-made reservoir, completed in 1966 and nestled high in the Ozark Mountains, is located in northwest Arkansas, the birthplace of the White River. Even if man-made lakes sometimes are destructive to wildlife, it is still pretty impressive how mankind can shape our planet.

East Coast of the USA, with the last light of the day visible on the horizon
With New York and Long Island on the bottom left we see a big chunk of the east coast at night. The last light of the day at the horizon is spectacular. I wonder if it’s still possible to pay 20 million or so to go to the ISS? If so, my only problem would be to find the 20 million…

Earth and the stars
So this is what the Milky Way looks like when there are no annoying city lights to obstruct the view. To quote Dr. McCoy from Star Trek “In this galaxy there’s a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in the universe, three million million galaxies like this. And in all that, and perhaps more…only one of each of us.”

Long Beach California night clouds
Only half an hour from where I am in beautiful Santa Monica we have this place, Long Beach. The place where you can find “Queen Mary” and “The Aquarium of the Pacific”. One of the best things is to take a whale watching day trip when the gray whales migrate. They move right off the coast here.

United Kingdom and Ireland by night
Home to authors of Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare), Pride and Prejudice (Austin), Dracula (Stoker) and Harry Potter (J.K. Rowlings). Last time I was in London was just before the shift of the millennium in 1999. The British Isles are magnificent and I always feel very drawn to them. I love the British (and Irish) people. ATV launch viewed from ISS
Arianespace and ESA Launched an ATV bound for the ISS. It must be pretty cool to be so high up and be able to see that far. Wonder what the actual distance was from the ISS to the ATV launch?

French Riviera by night
The Côte d’Azur is not only super expensive, super popular but also super beautiful. The moonlight reflection in the Mediterranean sea only enhances the beauty. This place might be the only place that really can rival southern California.

Barcelona, Spain by night
The lights from Barcelona are really bright here. It looks like a perfect cloud-free shot. It always surprises me how clear these night images of our beautiful planet are. A very nice picture.

Super Moon
On March 19th of this year we had a “Super Moon” sighting across out planet. A “supermoon” is the coincidence of a full moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth. The moon photographed from the ISS is spectacular, and in this picture even Earth looks trippy.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Cape Cod, often referred to locally as “the Cape”, is an island and a cape in the easternmost portion of the state of Massachusett. The Sun’s reflection turns the Atlantic into gold, highlighting the marvelous Cape. It’s almost like it’s on a “golden” shimmer.

Moscow, Russia by Night
A city with over 10 Million, Moscow is not only the capital of Russia but also the heart of European culture. The Russians are passionate, proud, smart, sexy but also highly intellectual, sophisticated and frankly a lot of fun. The heart of a super power in all areas is what this picture gives us. And the city is magnificent.

This image puzzles me a bit. We can see the beautiful last glow of the sunset. But then there is the bright light on the horizon. The angle gives me two light sources? I thought we only had one sun…

Sicily, Italy
Well Sicily has been crowned the original home of the Mafia by the Godfather movies. I for one see beauty and and a majestic island, filled with passionate, food and music loving people, some courageously living in the shadow of a monster of a volcano (Etna). Not clear if it is the sunlight or moonlight reflected in the Mediterranean sea around it. In any case the shot is incredible.

Lake Qadisiyah on the Euphrates river, Iraq
Haditha Dam, an earth-fill dam on the Euphrates, north of Haditha, creating Lake Qadisiyah. From space it looks like a chinese dragon, ready to launch an attack. There are many beautiful spots in Iraq, unfortunately unreachable due to the never ending violence and war. One day perhaps we can travel and experience the beauty of the Euphrates- and Tigris deltas, and all historical places it hides. Perhaps even the garden of Eden.

Heart shaped atoll north east of Solomon Islands
This atoll is favored by the astronauts on the ISS. They sent us this on Valentines day (Feb 14th). An atoll is an island (or islands) of coral, that encircles a lagoon, partially or completely. If you look it up, you’ll find that an atoll is actually the top of an old volcano. Very beautiful and cleverly done by the ISS crew.

San Quintin Glacier, Chile
The San Quintín Glacier is the largest outflow glacier of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field, in southern Chile. Like many glaciers worldwide during the twentieth century, San Quintín appears to be losing mass and retreating rapidly. Natural order, or man-made effect? I’m not going to speculate, but instead enjoy the beauty of a majestic glacier.

Crete, Greece and Turkey
To continue this article of photos from space, I also found this crystal clear, day time image of Hellas (Greece), Turkey and the exciting island of Crete. Crete has a rich mythology, mostly connected with the ancient greek Gods, but also connected with the Minoan civilization. Among other Crete is the birthplace of the the God Zeus in greek mythology. The Island has the world famous labyrinth (Palace) of Knossos.

Nile River
The Nile is a major north-flowing river in North Africa, generally regarded as the longest river in the world. It is 6,650 km (4,130 miles) long. At the very bottom of the picture you can see where the Blue Nile joins with the White Nile, to form “the Nile”. It was while searching for the origins of the Nile that explorer Dr Livingston met up with Stanley, that in turn lead to the now famous expression: “Dr Livingston I presume?”

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Rio de la Plata
Rio de la Plata, is the river formed by the confluence of the Uruguay River and the Paraná River on the border between Argentina and Uruguay. It looks like a painting, with a silver blood vein fueling a grand heart down to the left. Very exotic, almost alien like, with stunning light reflections.

Cyclone Dianne forms off the north west coast of Australia
In meteorology, a cyclone is an area of closed, circular fluid motion, rotating in the same direction as the Earth. I’ve seen pictures of hurricanes and cyclones before but if you look close you can actually glance the planet beneath. Look at the center of the eye. It’s just a blue thread, but still pretty cool.

Chaco National Park Paraguay
The great American Chaco is a plain of about 1.000.000 km2. It covers parts of Bolivia , Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. The clouds around the edges make the planet below look like reptile scales. Perhaps it is where Godzilla is lurking.

Parque Nacional Los Glaceres Argentina
Lago Argentino in the Patagonian province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. It is the biggest freshwater lake in Argentina, with a surface area of 1,466 km2 (566 sq mi). However look closely and you can see an imprint of a body. Just like someone fell from the sky and made a huge impact.

Santiago, Cabo Verde
Cabo Verde is an archipelago of 10 islands, located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa. Even if the name implies “green” it looks very dry to me. Santiago is the largest island of Cape Verde, with an area of 991 km². The island is mountainous, although slightly flatter in the southeast. Transcontinental slavery made Cidade Velha the second richest city in the Portuguese realm.

The Dead Sea, Israel
The Dead Sea, also called the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. Its surface and shores are 423 metres (1,388 ft) below sea level, the lowest elevation on the Earth’s surface on dry land. The sea has a density of 1.24 kg/L, making swimming difficult but providing a relaxing floating experience. Interesting how they named it the “dead sea”, being next to the holy land.

Sunset reflection in the Caspian Sea
The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water on Earth by area, variously classed as the world’s largest lake or sea. The sea has a surface area of 371,000 km2 (143,200 sq mi). I decided to end my article with this magnificent shot. Our planet is pure gold. Cherish it, it’s the only one we got.
